Pelvic Osteotomies for Bladder Exstrophy
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have treated 1 1 patients aged three days to 15 years with bladder exstrophy by horizontal osteotomies of the innominate bones. The operation was originally used for older patients with severe deformity or failed previous surgery but is now applied as a primary procedure in the first week of life. The osteotomies enable the complex malformations to be corrected in a single operation without turning the patient: the pubic bones can be brought together, the abdominal wall repaired and the bladder closed with reconstruction of the urethra and external genitalia. The early results have been very satisfactory in all cases with only minor complications; we felt that a preliminary report should be made, despite a mean follow-up of only seven months.

Pelvic Osteotomy in the Modern Treatment of the Exstrophy-Epispadias Complex
The role of the pelvic osteotomy at the time of bladder exstrophy closure has been better defined over the past three decades. Modern radiographic imaging provides greater insight into the pelvic bony and muscular defects encountered with these children and has forced surgeons to reconsider the importance of reconstructive efforts beyond the genitourinary tract. Surgical series from several of ...

OBJECTIVE To present the early results of pelvic osteotomies performed for repair of exstrophy bladder. METHODS Five cases of exstrophy bladder were treated with closure following bilateral iliac osteotomies. Three patients underwent closure of pubic symphysis diastasis by use of external fixator, one by screws and cerclage wires, and one by use of K-wires and suture. The patients were follow...

We reviewed retrospectively 45 patients (46 procedures) with bladder exstrophy treated by bilateral oblique pelvic osteotomy in conjunction with genitourinary repair. The operative technique and post-operative management with or without external fixation are described. A total of 21 patients attended a special follow-up clinic and 24 were interviewed by telephone. The mean follow-up time was 57...
متن کاملSteel minus Salter (SMS) osteotomy in recurrent bladder exstrophy repair: a case report.
Bladder exstrophy is a very rare congenital disorder, in which the first stage of reconstruction is usually performed within the first 72 hours of life. The most feared form of failure of the reconstruction is postoperative dehiscence of the bladder and abdominal wall. We present an 11-year-old girl with bladder exstrophy. She underwent three iliac bone supra-acetabular osteotomies with repair ...

Materials & Methods: A retrospective review of all girls that underwent CPRE from December 1998 through September 2016 from a single institution was performed. Operative age and weight, type of pelvic immobilization, use of pelvic osteotomies, imaging, clinical course, and need for additional surgical procedures were recorded. Patients were deemed in retention if their clinical course was consi...
